Yusuf Manjoo was born in 1978 in South Africa. He’s lived in the United States and Europe after completing a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree from the University of Cape Town. He initially majored in Journalism, Broadcasting and then Film. His articles were published in various national newspapers and magazines for nine years. In the year 2001 Manjoo received two Avanti Nominations (South Africa’s National Film and Television Award) for Best Drama and Best Director. The Flight of the Wooden Dancer (2009) is his debut book.
